I'm Chad Priest.
I started PhilanthroData because I've wanted a way to give back, and my experience gives me the ability to help the people who help others.
For more than 15 years I've led analytics, business intelligence and CRM teams at large companies. Nonprofits face the same data problems those teams solve, usually without anyone whose job it is to solve them. That's the gap I want to fill.
Background
My day job is Director of Marketing Insights at Teaching Strategies, where I'm building a Marketing Intelligence Platform on Databricks that brings Salesforce, Marketo, GA4, Bizible and LinkedIn data together in one place. Before that I was Director of Business Intelligence at Pegasystems, Senior Director of Global Customer Experience Analytics at SharkNinja, and Data Analytics Manager at Eaton Vance.
From volunteering to PhilanthroData
Since December 2023 I've done this work as a volunteer through Catchafire, a platform that matches skilled volunteers with nonprofits. Most of it has been data strategy, reporting and automation for human services organizations.
PhilanthroData makes that work official so I can help more organizations. Engagements are now paid on a sliding scale, and a third of what I bill funds subsidized help for small nonprofits that couldn't otherwise afford it.
The $70K figure is Catchafire's estimate of the value of this volunteer work.
“Chad was great to work with. He communicates well and as needed. I never felt like I was having to pull things out of him, nor like he was requiring so much communication that it was a struggle to manage him. Chad is detail-oriented and willing to find the answers he may not already know.”
